Tweens

Too young for youth group? Too old for young for children’s activities? Tweens is a special group for friends in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade to get together have fun and discuss faith issues and have even more fun.

At Mayfield United Methodist Church, ministry and fellowship don’t just happen on Sundays, but all through the week. Here are some other ways to get your child involved:

Fabulous Fridays

On Fabulous Fridays, tweens will participate in the special activity of the month. Sign up is required before these events.
Dates: 2nd Friday of the month (October - May)
Time: 7- 9p.m.
(some monthly event require meeting at a different day or time – confirm dates with Stacy Becker, Director of Children & Family Ministries)
October –Lock in at the church
November – let’s Go to the Movies
December – Christmas Party and Caroling
January – Skit Night
February – Mystery Night
March – Wii Play Night
April – Overnight Retreat
May – Scavenger Hunt

Tween Time

This special time is for the tweens to get together on a Sunday morning to share in devotions, games and other activities.
Date: 3rd Sunday of the month (October – May)
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Join Us on Sundays

Kids’ Church
Kids’ Church is where children see, hear and live their Belief In God. They learn to LIVE B.I.G. This contemporary style of children’s worship includes DVD-lessons that excite and enrich children's spiritual lives by bringing it into their everyday real world. Children begin by meeting in the worship center and join the congregation in praise music, then after greeting time they are dismissed to their classroom. (While in the Worship Center, children have the option of sitting with their families or joining the leaders and their friends in the front rows on the west end of the worship center.) In addition to the bible lessons, several times through out the year the children will also focus on memorizing the books of the bible and memorizing the disciples.

Time: 9:30 a.m. (for 1st-6th graders)

Grapple

Grapple Sunday School Class, tweens answers real-life preteen questions and tackles the issues preteens care about most! Tweens participate through attention-grabbing lessons, thought provoking videos, fun games and life changing Bible Lesson. Tweens can also connect through out the week with their very own safe and secure online community at myGrapple.com (parents need to get a password from the 4th - 6th grade Sunday School teachers to login).
Dates: Sundays (September – May)
Time: 11 a.m.

Take a Note

Tween Bell Choir
Child learn how to read music and play the handbells and chimes and make music once a month in worship service and occasionally during special services such as Christmas Eve.
Date: Thursdays (September –May)
Time: 5p.m.

Children’s Choir
Children learn to sing songs of praise with all their hearts and perform once a month in worship service and occasionally during special services such as Christmas Eve.
Date: Thursdays (September –May)
Time: 5p.m.

Have You Heard the Good News?

Good News Club (A Mayfield U.M.C. supported event)
Good News Club is an exciting, fun-filled hour held once a week for children 5 years and older. It includes: Bible Lessons and activities, scripture memorization and missionary stories.
Date: Tuesday at Lindsey Elementary School (November – March)
Wednesday at Westwood Elementary School (November – March)
Time: 3:10-4:40p.m.

Summer Celebrations

Vacation Bible School
This larger than life summer celebration is open for children 4 years old and above. This wonder-filled week includes crafts, snack, music, Bible lesson & stories and games. It is hard to believe all the fun we pack into the 3 hours a day for this special week during the summer.
Date: July 26th –July 30th, 2010
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
