GRACE Prayer Ministry
Imagine coming to worship with something heavy on your heart: a difficult decision, a family member who is ill, a friend who is facing divorce, a co-worker who has just lost his job, a neighbor in deep grief.
Imagine that you don’t have to face these heartaches and needs alone. Imagine that as the service ends a team of "pray-ers" comes forward to join their hearts with yours in prayer about your concerns.
Now imagine and hope that come when two or three gather together in Jesus’ name and lay their burdens at his feet.
On May 4, 2008,Mayfield Church commissioned its first class of GRACE Prayer Ministers. They serve (usually twice a month) by making themselves available near the east Prayer Room after each service to pray with anyone who desires. They come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences which enrich their ability to pray with people in need. A second training class is scheduled to begin November 1, 2009.
Class members come from many backgrounds and experiences, but each felt a specific call to this ministry. You will recognize many of their names: Kristy Nelson (GRACE Ministry leader), Mike and Martha Beffel, Kathryn Caldwell, Donna Foraker, Chris Guthrie, Jaynie Jancsurak, Laura Morris, Marcia Schettler and Margie White. We thank God for these people and praise God for the good work he is going to do in our congregation.
